The Roads to Zion

After the destruction of the Temple and the fall of Jerusalem, the pilgrims no longer ascended to the holy city for the pilgrimage festivals: “The roads of Zion are in mourning because no one comes to the appointed feasts” (Lamentations 1:4).

Leaving Egypt in Haste

How long does it take to repent? According to the sages, it takes only the twinkling of an eye. Just as Israel went from bondage to freedom in the blink of an eye, repentance transfers us into the kingdom of light instantaneously.
