In Christianity today, studying and applying the Bible is not emphasized enough. When the Bible is studied, it is often misunderstood.

The Bible was entrusted to a particular people and culture—Israel—who was given the task to spread God’s light throughout the world. In a desire to universalize the Scriptures and make them seem more personally relevant, some people have divorced the Scriptures from their original Jewish context. Outside of the proper context, people mistakenly feel free to interpret it as they see fit. This results in confusion and misunderstanding.

The teachings of Jesus and the entire New Testament are the climax of the Bible’s message. But all too often, people neglect the message’s equally important foundation: the law, the prophets, and the writings of the Old Testament. Reading the Bible in such a lopsided manner is like reading a roadmap upside-down; it’s not going to get you to your desired destination!

By restoring the Bible to its historical, cultural, and linguistic context, and by giving proper attention to the Bible’s own foundation and complete message, the people of God will see correction and healing. The world will taste redemption and holiness, and God will be glorified.

Torah Portions vs Torah Club

While the Torah Portions site provides an introduction to the reading and studying of Torah, Torah Club is a weekly Bible study where disciples gather to learn together. Club members meet to fellowship with their brothers and sisters in Messiah and study the weekly Torah portion using Torah Club lesson guides and materials.
